Facelift and all its modifications

Facelift

Also called a "rhytidectomy," this procedure tightens the skin and tissue in the lower two-thirds of the face, from the ear, along the cheeks, down to the jawline, by removing excess skin and fat and reshaping it. The incision is generally hidden along the hairline and the edge of the ear. By gently pulling the skin and tissue outward, the removal of excess skin and tissue gives a more youthful appearance to the face. This procedure is aimed at people with signs of aging of the face and neck, which are manifested by sagging tissue and deepening of folds. Some conditions, such as people with hypertension and bleeding disorders, may require further assessment before undergoing the procedure.

The procedure takes approximately two to three hours. It may be an inpatient or outpatient procedure depending on whether other procedures are performed at the same time. General anesthesia or intravenous sedation is commonly used, although local anesthesia may be used for faster recovery.

Recovery

Patients should sleep with their head erect for several nights. Stitches can be removed after one week. The resolution of bruising and swelling may vary, usually resolving within 2 weeks. Full recovery and return to work takes about 7-14 days. Strenuous activity should be discontinued for at least 3 weeks after surgery. Observation of the final result may take 6-9 months.

Blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelid surgery)

Lower blepharoplasty is a procedure to improve the appearance of the eyelids by either removing excess skin, muscle and fat, or redrawing the fat and removing only the excess skin and muscle. The technique can be performed over the conjunctiva or the skin. This procedure is indicated not only for people with lower eyelid cosmetic problems, but also for those who have excessive lower eyelid laxity with a whitish cast to the lower eyelids.

Upper blepharoplasty is a procedure to define skin folds or to improve the appearance of the eyelids by removing excess skin and muscle and may involve fat. Not only for people with upper eyelid cosmetic problems, this procedure is also indicated for those who have excessive upper eyelid laxity with visual field distortion.

The course of the procedure

The procedure usually takes one to two hours. It is an outpatient procedure. Local anesthesia is commonly used for intraoperative assessment and faster recovery, although general anesthesia or intravenous sedation may also be used.

Recovery

Eye ointment and eyelid icing is prescribed for the first 24 hours after the procedure. Patients should sleep with their head erect for two nights and may shower the next day. Stitches can be removed after one week. It may take up to two weeks for the swelling to subside, but people can expect to return to work in about five to ten days. Contact lens use can be resumed after two weeks. Alcohol consumption and strenuous activities should be discontinued for three weeks after surgery.

Browlift (eyebrow lift)

A brow lift is a procedure that corrects and adjusts the position of eyebrows on the face that have fallen due to ageing, for example. The procedure consists of a slight incision at the temple or directly above the eyebrows and by shifting the skin tissue, the desired result is achieved. This procedure can also remove fat from the eyebrow and forehead areas.

Procedure

The procedure itself takes approximately one hour and is usually performed under local anesthesia. Intravenous sedation or general anaesthesia is also possible. It depends on the patient's condition and the overall extent of the procedure.

Recovery

The results of the surgery are visible immediately, with the final condition occurring 1-3 weeks after the procedure. After surgery, patients should avoid physical exertion and bending over.

Temporal lift (pretrial and temporal)

Upper lip augmentation (bullhorn lift)

Upper lip augmentation, or Lip-Lift, is a procedure that can improve the shape and volume of the upper lip, or adjust the proportions of the upper and lower lips or improve the overall expression of the mouth.

The correction is made by the physician after assessing the ideal vertical height of the upper lip and making a small incision just above the lip line. The line then covers the scar.

The course of the procedure

This is an outpatient procedure that takes a maximum of 1 hour and is performed under local anesthesia or with only light sedation.

Recovery

After the procedure, the patient is advised to rest.

Otoplasty

Ear surgery, also called otoplasty, is an operation that changes the shape or position of the ear. This procedure is unique in that it is the only cosmetic surgery that can be performed in childhood that is usually covered by insurance. Great candidates for this procedure are patients who have a problem with prominent ears with normally shaped ears or misaligned ears, misplaced earlobes, abnormally shaped ears, and aging ears with elongated lobes. Preparation may include a detailed history of medical problems, medication history, and physical examination.

The course of the procedure

The procedure takes approximately two hours. It is usually an outpatient procedure.

Young children are usually given general anesthesia. For older children or adults, general or local anesthesia may be used along with sedation.

Recovery

The patient is advised to avoid pressure on the ear and bandages are placed for 3-5 days. Postoperative loose headgear should only be used at night for 4-6 weeks. The swelling may resolve after 3-5 days after surgery. The patient can return to school or work within five to seven days. Strenuous activity such as contact sports can be resumed in one to two months.

Nose surgery

Rhinoplasty, also called nose surgery, is the most challenging plastic surgery procedure ever. It reshapes the nose by reducing or enlarging it, removing a bump, reshaping the tip or bridge, narrowing the span of the nostrils, or changing the angle between the nose and upper lip. This procedure can also relieve some breathing difficulties when combined with surgery performed on the nasal septum - Septoplasty.

Procedure

The surgery takes approximately one hour or more. It is an outpatient procedure that uses general or intravenous sedation and local anesthesia.

Recovery
The patient can return to work after one week. Activities that are more strenuous can be resumed after two to three weeks. The patient should avoid for at least eight weeks any activity that could affect the nose or allow it to burn. The use of a sunscreen that provides both UVA and UVB protection is helpful. It may take a year or sometimes longer to achieve final results.
